Internal damp proof membranes are provided in the form of a plastic sheet that is impervious to moisture and salts and can be fixed to internal walls.

Unlike DPCs or structural DPMs, an internal damp proof membrane has a studded profile, and the studs face the wall to create an air gap that allows for vapour equalisation to take place between the membrane and walls.

Meshed damp proof membranes are also manufactured with a mesh that is thermally welded to the internal surface of the membrane, and allows a direct plaster or render finish to be applied to the membrane.
